The RN Staff position utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. This role involves performing assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. The RN administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state laws/practice acts. They ensure all documentation is accurate and comprehensive, develop and execute patient care plans based on individual needs, and utilize available resources for patient and family education. The position also involves participation in performance improvement activities, shared governance, and utilizing clinical expertise to support patient care across units. The RN acts to resolve systems breakdowns, manages complex situations, delegates appropriately, and escalates issues as needed. They positively influence professional and organizational environments, engage in personal development, and support continuous learning and growth, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines. For Clinic and Ambulatory RNs, this includes maintaining timely patient flow, responding to telephone calls, and performing telephone triage. Illinois RNs are required to complete 10 hours of continued education for licensure.
