This role involves utilizing the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to care for patients. The RN will perform assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. They will administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state laws/practice acts. The position requires accurate and comprehensive documentation, development and execution of patient care plans, and patient/family education. The RN will also participate in performance improvement activities, shared governance, and resolve systems breakdowns. Critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience, delegation, and escalation to the appropriate chain of command are essential. The role also includes personal development, continuous learning, peer review, and participation in the professional nursing continuum. For Clinic and Ambulatory RNs, this includes maintaining patient flow, responding to telephone calls, and performing telephone triage. A requirement for RNs in Illinois is 10 hours of continued education for licensure.
