RN Staff Nurse - NICU
About The Position
The RN Staff Nurse provides patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, a regional center for infant, child, and teen care. The NICU cares for critically ill and premature infants, including babies born up to 16 weeks early and infants up to 28 days old. Care is evidence-based and follows national and international best practices. The nurse works as a member of the health care team and provides care under the direction of the clinical manager or designee, in accordance with applicable Registered Nurse standards and scope of practice. Legacy’s nursing philosophy emphasizes patients and families, with nurses serving as advocates, communicators, problem-solvers, and caregivers.
Requirements
- Meet education requirements for licensure.
- Have one year of registered nursing experience, or have completed the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program equivalent in content, curriculum, and duration.
- Hold a current applicable state RN license.
- Hold AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians, and the community.
- Have keyboard skills and the ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
Nice To Haves
- A BSN or progress toward a BSN is strongly preferred; a BSN may be required for specific assignments. Experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.
- Recent NICU experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care within the assigned department or unit.
- Participate as a member of the health care team, cooperating with and working under the direction of the clinical manager or designee.
- Assess, analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with established Legacy Health System standards, including standards for patient assessment and transfer.
