About The Position

The Legacy nursing philosophy focuses on patients and their families, with nurses acting as advocates, communicators, problem-solvers, and caregivers. Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in North Portland is a regional leader in critical care, serving as a Level 1 Trauma Center and Regional Burn Center for both adult and pediatric populations. This position is specifically for the Interventional Services Care Unit (ISCU) in the new West Tower at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. The ISCU prepares patients for surgery and provides both phase 1 (PACU) and phase 2 post-procedure care. The medical center supports a dynamic and complex Cath lab, requiring approximately 3 weeknight call shifts and 1 weekend call per 6-weeks. Ideal candidates will have PACU experience, but the minimum requirement is the ability to quickly and accurately read and interpret telemetry rhythms.

Requirements

  • Current applicable state RN license required.
  • AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers.
  • One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration.
  • Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community.
  • Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred.
  • Previous interventional cardiovascular recovery unit experience or critical care experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry rhythms quickly and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit.
  • Participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse.
  • The RN Staff Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Legacy Health System including those for patient assessment and transfer.
