Registered Nurse for 6F Observation/Discharge unit. This is a 0.9 Full-Time, Nights position (36 hours/week) that includes holidays/weekends/rotation. It is a Union position represented by SEIU. UPMC Altoona is offering a Night Program for RNs, which provides an additional $2/hour on top of the off-shift differential for eligible nurses working the night shift. The unit is a fast-paced adult unit with 24 beds, specializing in timely and efficient patient care for short-stay patients (6-48 hours) who require observation to determine the need for inpatient admission or if they are stable for discharge. Conditions treated include chest pain, abdominal pain, asthma exacerbations, and stable cardiac arrhythmias. Patients awaiting transport after discharge from inpatient units may also be placed here. The unit focuses on providing outstanding care, improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, and maintaining commitment to patients and each other. Future Graduates and experienced Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply, with future GNs able to apply up to one year in advance of graduation.
