About The Position

Responsible and accountable for a group of patients during a designated time frame and to provide care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. The Perioperative RN is accountable for planning & directing the care of every patient undergoing operative & invasive procedures. The Perioperative RN directs & supervises the surgical team members.

Requirements

• Graduate from a NLN accredited school of nursing
• Current LA RN license
• BLS required or obtained during orientation
• ALS required within 6 months of hire
• Able to work flexible shifts and take call according to unit specific standards.
• Current BLS and ALS (Advanced Life Support) certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
• One year Surgery RN experience required
• Must possess good physical health.
• Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
• Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of two years’ Surgery RN experience preferred.
• Acute Care facility, surgery experience preferred.
• CNOR Certification preferred.
• The Perioperative RN must be available in-house within 30 minutes when on call.
