About The Position

Enrich the lives of older adults through community, choice, and continuing care in the RN Staff Development Specialist role. The RN Staff Development Specialist is responsible for delivering safety and care-related training to all employees in the Rehabilitation & Care Center by leveraging the company’s learning management system, intranet portal, state and federal resources, and other pre-approved sources. The RN Staff Development Specialist plays a leading role with Infection Prevention training, monitoring, auditing and reporting through the National Health Safety Network (NHSN). Additionally, the RN Staff Development Specialist is responsible for record retention of safety and care-related training by utilizing the company’s HRIS system, forms, and document retention practices guidelines. Requirements

  • Prior experience delivering and facilitating educational content.
  • A strong desire to help others grow their nursing competencies.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in Washington State or out-of-state MSL.
  • Follow the Washington Nurse Practice Act.
  • Complete Suicide Prevention Training in advance of hire per state regulations.
  • Washington State Board of Nursing (WABON) MSL demographic survey.
  • Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of Washington State nurse practice laws and state and federal regulations governing long term care facilities.
  • Proficient computer and technology skills to include Microsoft Office, Point Click Care, and other software or cloud-based systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in a post-acute care setting; preferably skilled nursing or long term care.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver safety and care-related training. Examples may include CPR, first aid, on-the-job orientation, infection control, vaccine education, nursing skill competencies, general in-service, and other needs as directed by Leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Training & Development to vet learning content and streamline delivery and record keeping of training.
  • Lead infection prevention education, monitoring, auditing and reporting.
  • May act as a backup to the Director of Nursing Services as assigned.
  • Serve as a member of the on-call rotation schedule.
  • May be assigned to floor nursing duties if business needs dictate.
  • May administer immunizations and TB testing and assessments for staff or residents.
  • Promote a positive work experience for nursing assistants through interaction, education, and use of the company’s recognition and reward platform.
  • Learn and apply Company, Federal, State, and local rules, regulations, and policies.
