About The Position

Located on the Community Regional campus, Burnett Extended Care Center is our brand-new 154-bed transitional care facility opening this summer. Purpose-built to serve patients transitioning from hospital to home, Burnett includes specialized units — Memory Care, Long-Term Care and Transitional Care — that focus on quality, comfort and continuity of care. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited School of Nursing required
  • 2 years of experience as a licensed nurse required
  • 1 year of experience as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting required
  • One of the following is required: 1 year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs in nursing OR Possess 24 hours of continuing education certificate(s) in planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs in nursing. The courses must be either approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or be administered by an accredited educational institution and the certificates must be obtained within six months of employment and prior to teaching in a training program
  • BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • RN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California required
  • DSD - Certified Director of Staff Development required within 180 days of hire or transfer into position

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead comprehensive training programs that ensure staff competency, promote regulatory compliance, and elevate resident care.
  • Coordinate and conduct onboarding and orientation for new hires, as well as ongoing clinical education for nursing and support staff.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify learning needs, evaluate performance, and implement development plans.
  • Maintain accurate training records and assist with policy implementation to support adherence to internal, state and federal standards.
