The RN Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care based on the standards of care and the policies of LCMC Health. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [State].
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in sports medicine, orthopedics, or a related field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Proficient in clinical skills related to sports medicine, including IV therapy, wound care, and pain management.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Orthopedic Nurse Certification (ONC) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for patients in the sports medicine unit.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, symptoms, and overall health status, responding promptly to any changes.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Provide post-operative care, including wound care, pain management, and patient education.
  • Assist in preparing and positioning patients for in-clinic procedures and surgeries.
  • Support surgeons and medical staff during in and outpatient surgical procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and patient safety.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available and prepared for procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to develop and execute effective care plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and post-operative care.
  • Coordinate patient transfers, admissions, and discharges, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of all patient interactions, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and institutional policies, including infection control and patient safety standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in sports medicine care.
  • Stay current with advancements in sports medicine nursing through continuous education and professional development.
  • Participate in department meetings, case reviews, and training sessions.
