About The Position

The Critical Care Shift Manager (Registered Nurse) is responsible and accountable for the delivery of skilled, high quality patient care; for assisting in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating nursing practice in accordance with the Mission of Doctors Hospital and Critical Care Services. He/she demonstrates a high degree of critical thinking, technical skill, initiative, integrity, accuracy and compassionate nursing care in an interdisciplinary practice. The Shift Manager assists the Department Director in providing direction in the development and evaluation of nursing personnel, and in maintaining operations of the patient care unit. Prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care acting as resource for clinical issues involving the plan of care. Contributes to nursing and hospital mission through support of philosophy and objectives, educational efforts and research efforts. He/she performs as a peer role model for professional behavior and in demonstrating superior expertise in the delivery of nursing care, and oversight of all functions of the department during assigned shift. Performs other duties as required. Revisions to the job description, accountabilities, and measures may be required due to patient care needs and/or efficient operation of the Hospital. You will be advised in writing of any changes. It is also understood that the job description is not all-inclusive and you may be required to perform other related duties. The incumbent is accountable for reviewing the job description and updating as necessary.

Requirements

  • Able to function as Primary Nurse in Critical Care
  • Completion of an approved Critical Care class with superior arrhythmia recognition skills
  • Must have taken Critical Care Med Test and Basic Arrhythmia test with scores of 85%
  • At least two years experience in Critical Care setting within the past eight years and 1200/hrs/yr
  • Active California R.N. License
  • Healthcare Provider BLS upon hire
  • ACLS upon hire
  • 1-2 YRS. MANAGERIAL experience

Nice To Haves

  • PALS within 6 months of hire
  • National Certification required for Shift Manager III and IV
  • Shift Manager II requires BSN OR National Certification
