About The Position

This role schedules procedures for Bismarck interventional radiology and cardiology departments. The RN Scheduler serves as Sanford systems administrator for both in-house and outpatient scheduling, responsible for the maintenance, security, teaching, and analytical recovery of the scheduling system. The position coordinates and schedules procedures, ensuring compliance with facility guidelines and documentation requirements. It acts as a liaison between providers, clinics, clinical teams, and other team members to maintain an efficient and accurate scheduling process. Key duties include managing department calendars in the EMR system, verifying documentation, procedure planning, and coordinating resources such as staffing, equipment, and anesthesia. The position also supports operational workflows by attending departmental meetings, distributing procedural reports, and assisting with patient flow. Additional responsibilities include collaborating across multiple departments, providing pre/post procedure instructions to patients and family, and working closely with prior authorization resources to ensure procedures are authorized before scheduling. May assist APPs in the clinic setting with rooming patients and providing patient education. The RN Scheduler upholds HIPAA standards and contributes to overall departmental service optimization.

Requirements

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
Knowledge of insurance referrals for VA, IHS, WFS, etc. is preferred.

Responsibilities

Schedule procedures for Bismarck interventional radiology and cardiology departments.
Work closely with providers, nurses, technologists, and ancillary staff for planning of procedures and follow up appointments.
Schedule and coordinate procedures.
Schedule clinic appointments.
Handle prior authorization.
Perform registration review.
Conduct pre-procedure preparation with the patient.
Assist with patients in the clinical setting.
Serve as Sanford systems administrator for both in-house and outpatient scheduling.
Maintain, secure, teach, and perform analytical recovery for the scheduling system.
Coordinate and schedule procedures, ensuring compliance with facility guidelines and documentation requirements.
Serve as a liaison between providers, clinics, clinical teams, and other team members to maintain an efficient and accurate scheduling process.
Manage department calendars in the EMR system.
