About The Position

The RN Scheduler serves as Sanford systems administrator for both in-house and outpatient scheduling which includes responsibility for the maintenance, security, teaching and analytical recovery offered by the scheduling system. The RN Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling procedures, ensuring compliance with facility guidelines and documentation requirements. This role serves as a liaison between providers, clinics, clinical teams, and other team members to maintain an efficient and accurate scheduling process. The position also supports operational workflows by attending departmental meetings, distributing procedural reports, and assisting with patient flow. The RN Scheduler upholds HIPAA standards and contributes to overall departmental service optimization.

Requirements

  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance referrals for VA, IHS, WFS, etc. is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Schedule procedures for Bismarck interventional radiology and cardiology departments
  • Work closely with providers, nurses, technologists, and ancillary staff for planning of procedures and follow up appointments
  • Scheduling and coordinating procedures
  • Scheduling clinic appointments
  • Prior authorization
  • Registration review
  • Pre-procedure preparation with the patient
  • Assisting with patients in the clinical setting
  • Serve as Sanford systems administrator for both in-house and outpatient scheduling
  • Maintenance, security, teaching and analytical recovery offered by the scheduling system
  • Coordinating and scheduling procedures, ensuring compliance with facility guidelines and documentation requirements
  • Serve as a liaison between providers, clinics, clinical teams, and other team members to maintain an efficient and accurate scheduling process
  • Managing department calendars in the EMR system
  • Verifying documentation
  • Procedure planning
  • Coordinating resources such as staffing, equipment, and if in a procedural department, anesthesia
  • Attending departmental meetings
  • Distributing procedural reports
  • Assisting with patient flow
  • Collaborating across multiple departments
  • Providing pre/post procedure instructions to patients and family
  • Working closely with prior authorization resources to ensure procedures are authorized before scheduling
  • May assist APPs in clinic setting with rooming patients and providing patient education
