About The Position

Logan Health's New Graduate RN Residency Program is accredited as a Practice Transition Program with Distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. This program is designed to turn degrees into careers for new graduate Registered Nurses. The program aims to provide a supportive transition from academic learning to professional practice, focusing on quality, compassionate care, connection, service, and innovation. Applicants are required to submit a complete resume detailing all work experience, military service, volunteer experience within the past two years, education, and clinical rotations. Incomplete resumes may affect eligibility. A cover letter is not required.

Requirements

  • Current Montana RN License or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required at the start of the program or prior to direct patient care.
  • Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and completed at least 250 clinical hours during their education.
  • Must have graduated from an accredited nursing school within one (1) year of the Nurse Residency start date, or nurses returning to the profession must have completed a refresher course prior to acceptance.
  • Current BLS certification within 7 days of hire.
  • Must complete all steps in the Nurse Residency Program application process.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail, critical thinking abilities, and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to function independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Possess and maintain computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn additional software systems as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree preferred.
  • Prior working experience in the specialty area preferred.
  • Completion of an externship with 90+ hours in the specialty area. The externship must be above and beyond standard clinical requirements.
  • Additional certification requirements vary by specialty and must be successfully obtained within designated timeframes after hire. Examples include, but are not limited to, ACLS, PALS, and ENPC.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates commitment to professionalism, civility, teamwork, and exceptional customer service in all interactions.
  • Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures related to patient care, safety, and assigned job responsibilities.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements and Logan Health standards applicable to nursing practice.
  • Operates and maintains equipment according to departmental standards.
  • Maintains nursing standards of care and executes appropriate provider orders while respecting patient diversity, privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
  • Performs comprehensive patient assessments upon admission and at intervals appropriate to patient condition and provider orders.
  • Administers medications, treatments, provider-directed care, and intravenous therapy in accordance with Logan Health policies and procedures.
  • Reassesses patients, identifies changes in condition, laboratory values, and vital signs, and implements interventions as appropriate.
  • Evaluates patient responses to treatments and therapies and adjusts care accordingly within scope and policy.
  • Communicates significant changes in patient condition to the appropriate provider in a timely manner.
  • Accurately documents clinical findings and required regulatory information in the medical record.
  • Completes and maintains competency in all required annual educational and unit-specific competency requirements.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of staffing standards and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Maintains understanding of and compliance with all Nurse Residency Program requirements.
  • Additional duties may be assigned consistent with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
