Registered Nurse for a 48-bed telemetry and surgical/neuro unit spanning two units, 4A and 4B. The unit cares for patients with COVID, respiratory and gastrointestinal conditions, diabetes, telemetry needs, TIA and CVA, as well as general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients. Staffing ratios are 1:5 for nurses and 1:10–15 for nurse aides. Nurses do not titrate drips; diltiazem may be administered at a set rate. Telemetry is monitored remotely by monitor technicians on the third floor, who read and post strips. Registered Nurses must interpret strips and sign at least once per shift. The charge nurse does not take a patient assignment. Shifts are 12 hours, 7:00–7:30, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Schedules are prepared in four-week blocks using self-scheduling, subject to manager balancing. The weekend requirement is two weekends per four-week schedule. Holiday scheduling expectations cover Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving Day, with a preference for a combination of two day shifts and one evening shift, or two evening shifts and one day shift. There is no call or standby requirement. Nurses may float to East Campus and possibly to the PCU if qualified. Unit orientation is one shift.
