About The Position

The Campus Nurse is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and overseeing medical services for residential youth at Josiah White’s. This role provides comprehensive nursing assessment, care planning, treatment implementation, and health education while collaborating closely with residential staff, treatment teams, families and external medical providers. Under the administrative supervision and evaluation of the Director of Medical Services, nursing staff will contact the contracted Medical Director for assistance beyond their scope of practice and the Business office/COO for billing questions.

Requirements

A Christian with strong convictions who is also in agreement with Josiah White’s mission statement, Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must have an active Indiana license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Previous experience in the nursing field is required.
Must be able to complete Model of Care training.
Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive health assessments by evaluating clients’ physical and mental health status through observation, interviews, and physical assessments to identify needs, risks, and priorities.
Monitor and reassess client conditions as needed, including evaluating staff for work-related injuries and determining appropriate follow-up care.
Develop and manage nursing care plans by creating, implementing, and revising individualized, goal-oriented plans of care based on physician orders, client needs, and changes in health status.
Provide clinical treatment and medical intervention to prevent complications and respond effectively to urgent or life-threatening conditions.
Evaluate treatment needs and make appropriate referrals by monitoring client progress, identifying changes in medical or behavioral health needs, and making referrals for additional services, including inpatient treatment when clinically appropriate.
Manage and administer medications to youth in accordance with physician orders, agency policies, and established regulations, including administration and monitoring of psychotropic medications.
Coordinate medical care and treatment services by collaborating with residential leadership and supervisors, therapists, physicians, and other healthcare providers to promote continuity and effectiveness of care.
Coordinate insurance and managed care services by communicating with managed care organizations and insurance companies as needed to support authorization, treatment coordination, and access to medically necessary services.
Deliver health and medication education by providing programming and training to staff and clients upon admission and as clinically indicated regarding health conditions, medications, safety, and other relevant healthcare needs.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation by maintaining complete and confidential medical records from admission through discharge in compliance with physician orders and agency policies.
Adhere to strict standards with regard to confidentiality, safety, infection control, medication management, and legal regulations.
Provide on-call consultation and support by participating in an on-call rotation and providing clinical guidance to staff regarding medical concerns and client health needs.
Maintain professional standards and development by completing required training, maintaining licensure, and documenting continuing education in accordance with organizational requirements.
