About The Position

This Registered Nurse position is in a 13-bed emergency department and floats between Parkview Bryan and Parkview Montpelier. The department typically sees 1,250–1,350 patients per month. Nurses work with a team of two or three other nurses and a clerk or tech, with a typical assignment of three or four patients per nurse. The nurse triages arriving ED patients, assesses and treats them, starts IVs, administers oral, intramuscular, and IV medications, manages critical drips and moderate sedation, and performs EKGs and blood draws from IV starts. The nurse reports to inpatient units about admitted patients and transports those patients to the units. The role also includes stabilizing and treating patients being transferred to another facility, communicating with physicians and other staff about care plans, and assisting physicians with procedures such as reductions, chest tubes, central lines, intubations, and rapid-sequence intubations. The position uses EPIC charting and medication administration, including barcode scanning with a WOW and scanner or Rover phone. Other equipment includes Omnicel medication dispensing cabinets, Phillips bedside cardiac monitors with X2 portable monitors, Zoll defibrillators, and Plumb IV pumps. The dress code is Caribbean Blue scrubs. The schedule is set and includes every third weekend. There is no call requirement. Extra shifts may be available for pickup. The posting also notes a local rate adjustment for clinicians whose permanent addresses are within 50 miles, a client call-off/cancellation policy of up to 24 hours per 13-week assignment, and eight non-billable orientation hours; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation. Clinicians returning within 12 months of their last worked date are not eligible for non-billable orientation.
