About The Position

The Surgery Department at Mount Carmel East has 13 operating rooms, with 3 dedicated to trauma. Surgical specialties include Level II Trauma care, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, Neurosurgery (Cranial and Spinal), General Surgery, ENT, GYN, Dental, Plastics, Colorectal, and Robotic Surgery. The department averages 25 cases per day and cares for the adult patient population. It is staffed 24-7-365 and focuses heavily on work-life balance. This position is for casual/PRN/per diem, ideally for weekend coverage plus on-call. The Registered Nurse (RN), within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The RN collaborates in the spirit of teamwork and is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.

Requirements

Graduate from school of nursing.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
For Casual RNs 2 years of experience is required.
Previous OR/Inpatient Surgery/Circulator experience is required.

Responsibilities

Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice.
Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner.
Keeps patient/family apprised/updated.
Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.
