Northeast Georgia Health System is rooted in a foundation of improving the health of our communities. The Neuro ICU is an 18-bed Critical Care Unit equipped with bedside monitors for hemodynamic monitoring. It functions as a dedicated stroke nursing unit, providing comprehensive care to neuro patients who require intense monitoring and nursing care. The unit specializes in caring for patients with various conditions including ischemic stroke (including those undergoing thrombectomy), hemorrhagic stroke (including intracranial hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and post-coil embolization patients), cerebral edema and increased intracranial pressure, abnormal electrical activity of the brain for patients with intractable seizure, and patients with other neurological disorders such as Guillain-Barre’ Syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis, and ALS. Additionally, the unit cares for patients experiencing hemodynamic instability and/or airway and respiratory compromise.
