About The Position

Emplify Health by Gundersen is seeking a part-time RN to join our highly committed and dynamic Emergency Services team as a Forensic/SANE Coordinator. This role functions as an Emergency Services registered nurse and Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE), accountable for the coordination of hospital forensic nursing and the FNE program. The coordinator will interact with multidisciplinary persons, departments, and outside agencies to ensure the program's smooth operation and deliver quality patient-centered care to victims of sexual assault, child sexual abuse, elder abuse, and domestic violence. The position requires excellent clinical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with decision-making aligned with state legislation, hospital policies, department protocols, and the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act. The Emergency Services department is a Level II ACS-verified Trauma Center, a high-energy, patient-centered environment with 45 exam rooms, including specialized rooms for urgent care, resuscitation/trauma, and behavioral health. It serves all patient populations and offers 24-hour access to laboratory, X-ray, and surgical services. The department is also recognized as a Stroke Center with 24/7 neuro-interventional capabilities and a Chest Pain Center with 24/7 interventional cardiac catheterization lab capabilities. The department is a 2023 Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award recipient, recognized for excellence in metrics and patient experience.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree in Nursing.
  • An active Wisconsin or multi-state RN license upon start.
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to patients of all ages, including toddlers and adults.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Emergency Medicine experience.
  • Prior SANE RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Function as an Emergency Services registered nurse and Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE).

  • Ensure the program functions smoothly and delivers quality patient-centered care to victims of sexual assault, child sexual abuse, elder abuse, and domestic violence.
  • Demonstrate excellent clinical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Make decisions consistent with current state legislation, hospital policies, department protocols/guidelines, the Wisconsin Chapter of Forensic Nursing protocols/guidelines, and the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act.
  • Provide direct patient care as a regular Emergency Services RN.
  • Dedicate time to the SANE program.
