About The Position

This is a travel nursing position for an Adult Psychiatric Registered Nurse in Kansas City, Missouri. The shift is nights, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, for a 13-week contract. An active Blue Card and CPI certification are required for submission.

Requirements

• Certifications: BLS and CPI Crisis Intervention skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Ability to assess patients' mental health status, including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems. This involves taking thorough patient histories, observing behavior, and using diagnostic tools.
• Developing individualized care plans based on the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues. This includes setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes.
• Administering psychiatric medications and monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions. Knowledge of psychotropic medications.
• Providing immediate, short-term support to patients in crisis (e.g., suicidal ideation, aggression). This includes de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management.
• Building trust and rapport with patients through effective communication skills, active listening, and empathy.
• Monitoring patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects.
