About The Position

Ambulatory Day Surgery Center primarily services sports medicine, ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Pain management, general surgery, surgical oncology, urology, and ob/gyn. This is a PRN Pre/Post RN position for a busy day surgery center. The schedule requires flexibility to work 8- or 10-hour shifts with start times as early as 6:00 AM and end times as late as 6:30 PM, or until the last patient is discharged. Flexibility to support departmental scheduling needs is required. The unit has 8 suites and 27 pre/post rooms. There are no weekends, holidays, or call requirements. The unit emphasizes a patient-centered focus with interdepartmental collaboration and teamwork, fostering a supportive environment where staff take care of each other. The team is described as friendly, fun, and collaborative, working with top-notch surgeons and anesthesia partners to deliver excellent patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an Accredited RN Program.
  • Specialized field of study in nursing.
  • RN license.
  • BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting.
  • 2 years of RN experience required.

  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
  • Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.

  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.

  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
  • Conduct patient assessments, recognizing health issues.
  • Create and implement care plans, assessing patient responses.
  • Adjust care plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members on healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and the community to create care plans.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development and show commitment to community service.
