About The Position

Houston Metro Urology Surgical Center is seeking a Preoperative Screening RN for its ambulatory surgery center. Under the direction of the clinical preoperative screeners, the RN helps ensure patients are prepared and cleared for surgery by collecting patient information, communicating with physician offices, completing medical histories, and assembling clinical records. The role contributes to the organization’s mission and values and offers opportunities to influence patient care through collaborative relationships and nursing initiatives.

The center is located in Houston, Texas, and serves Houston, Harris County, and surrounding southeastern Texas communities. It specializes in urology outpatient surgery and performs more than 550 cases per month. The facility is AAAHC accredited and uses modern surgical equipment. It provides services including cystoscopy, vasectomy, circumcisions, slings, prostate biopsy, BPH treatments, HIFU, lithotripsy, and TURP procedures.

Requirements

• RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve voicemail messages and return calls promptly.
• Maintain adequate supplies for the office area.
• Make preoperative phone calls to collect preadmission information and provide appropriate preoperative instructions.
• Maintain departmental Excel spreadsheets tracking patient data collection and telephone communications.
• Compile patient charts, ensuring required documentation is available, up to date, and compliant with regulations.
• Assist with collecting patient information, communicating with physician offices, completing medical histories, and assembling clinical records.
