RN PreOp PACU Nurse
About The Position
Brandon Surgery Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide pre-operative and post-anesthesia care. The role offers staffing support, technology and tools for patient monitoring and communication, reliable supplies, and ongoing clinical education to support safe, high-quality care. Brandon Surgery Center is in Brandon, Florida. Its 33,500-square-foot facility, built in 2020, has 8 operating rooms and 6 procedure rooms and performs more than 1,800 cases per month. Services include gastroenterology, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ENT, plastics, podiatry, pain management, and urology.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, or higher degree in Nursing.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
- Active RN license as required by the state of employment.
- BCLS certification upon employment; online certification is not acceptable.
- ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.
- PALS certification within 30 days of hire if required by the facility.
Nice To Haves
- Nursing experience in PACU, ICU, or surgery is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients’ care areas before each case.
- Ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available for each procedure.
- Conduct complete physical and psychological assessments and evaluate patients’ histories and diagnostic tests.
- Administer prescribed pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy.
- Use proper technique to insert, maintain, and remove IV catheters and saline locks.
- Check patients’ dressings and operative sites and report abnormalities to the surgeon.
- Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.
