About The Position
The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients during a designated time frame. The RN provides care using the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and financial and human resources, in accordance with the institution’s philosophy. The position requires completing patient assessments and developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized plans of care. The RN maintains accurate documentation, supports patient and employee safety, communicates with colleagues to resolve issues and share feedback, and fulfills departmental competency requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing (required).
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 1 year.
Responsibilities
- Perform responsibilities and duties required by the unit and within its scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care to support information integration for the healthcare team.
- Complete an initial assessment upon patient admission and develop a plan of care in accordance with unit standards and patient and family needs.
- Implement the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
- Modify the plan of care based on continuous evaluation.
- Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicate directly with others, privately when necessary, to resolve issues.
- Offer constructive feedback to support the professional development of peers and confer with colleagues to expand knowledge.
- Identify personal learning needs and take initiative to address them.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
