About The Position

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients during a designated time frame. The RN provides care using the nursing process, current nursing practices and technology, and available financial and human resources, consistent with the institution’s philosophy. The role requires an Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license, a nursing diploma, and specified life-support certifications within the stated timeframes.

Requirements

Diploma in Nursing.
Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 1 year.

Responsibilities

Perform responsibilities and duties required by the unit and its scope of service.
Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
Maintain accurate, current documentation of nursing care to support information sharing among the healthcare team.
Complete an initial assessment upon patient admission and develop a plan of care based on patient and family needs and unit standards.
Implement the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
Continuously evaluate the patient and modify the plan of care as needed.
Promote patient and employee safety by reporting or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
Communicate directly, and privately when necessary, to resolve issues.
Offer constructive feedback to support peers’ professional development and confer with colleagues to expand knowledge.
Identify personal learning needs and take initiative to address them.
Fulfill departmental competency requirements.
