About The Position

The RN Postpartum position provides nursing care on Butterworth Hospital’s 6 and 8 Center units, secure units with 20 private beds each specializing in Women and Infant Services. The units care for postpartum mother-baby couplets after labor and delivery. The Nursing and Support Team guides parents through the transition after birth by providing education and support, with Lactation Peer Counselors and Consultants available to assist new mothers.

The nurse delivers care responsibly and accountably in accordance with American Nurses Association standards and Michigan law. Using the nursing process, the nurse assesses, diagnoses, identifies outcomes, plans, implements, and evaluates care. The role upholds professional performance standards and strives for optimal outcomes.

This is a part-time night-shift position at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The schedule is 24 hours per week, with hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., variable days, and every other weekend.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of inpatient RN experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care responsibly and accountably in accordance with American Nurses Association standards and Michigan law.
• Use the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Uphold professional standards in ethical and culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
• Support and educate parents during the postpartum transition.
