Under the direct supervision of the Physician or Operations/Practice Manager, this role assists in providing nursing care to office patients. The primary focus is triaging and evaluating patients, mainly via telephone calls and some walk-in patients. This includes obtaining major complaints, brief medical history when necessary, and completing chart documentation. The role involves informing the physician or nurse practitioner of patient symptoms and seeking guidance when necessary. Responsibilities include obtaining current medication regimens, refilling medication orders under physician supervision, and assisting other departments as needed. The RN will respond to practice codes and assist medical personnel. They will answer general health questions, triage telephone calls with complete follow-through, and maintain/stock necessary pharmaceuticals. The role also requires obtaining and transmitting reports from outside agencies to the physician, maintaining patient rights and confidentiality, and serving as an advocate for a safe environment. Participation in quality monitoring and identifying learning needs is expected. Additionally, the RN will assist with secretarial/clerical duties such as filing, copying medical records, answering phones, taking messages, and faxing. The position requires performing other work-related duties as requested and working cooperatively with co-workers, communicating politely with all personnel.
