About The Position

This position is for a PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) Nurse. The role involves monitoring patients during their recovery from anesthesia, managing their vital signs, and ensuring their comfort and safety. The nurse will collaborate with a medical team, administer medications, change dressings, and educate patients and their families on post-surgery care.

Requirements

• Graduate of a State board approved program of Professional nursing.
• Holds a current Pennsylvania State License as a Registered Nurse.
• Certified in basic CPR, ACLS, and PALS.
• Maintains position specific skills and competencies as required on an annual basis.
• Maintains CEUs appropriate to discipline in order to maintain licensure.

Nice To Haves

• Critical Care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observing patients for side effects of anesthesia.
• Monitoring and recording patient vital signs.
• Monitoring patient's level of consciousness throughout sedation recovery.
• Performing post-operative tasks, such as administering medication or changing dressings.
• Checking and updating patient files, charts, and medical records.
• Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, physicians, and other members of the patient's care team.
• Providing comfort and answering questions when patients wake from sedation.
• Educating patients and families regarding post-surgery care at home.
