About The Position

This unit provides care for both Pediatric and Women’s Health patients, with 16 pediatric beds and 6 Women’s Health beds. The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care. This includes incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures, recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning the plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patients/families, documenting education and learning appropriately in the health record.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate degree or from an ACEN accredited Diploma program.
  • BSN, MSN, DNP/PhD – if not minimum BSN prepared, new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience is required to sign an educational contract upon hire to complete BSN within specified timeframe and adhere to contract stipulations.
  • RN must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within the next five (5) years.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) required or if new grad within 60 days of hire.
  • AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire/transfer.
  • PALS required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
  • External candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 years of a combination of Pediatric and Med/Surg RN clinical experience.
  • External candidates must successfully complete a required competency assessment provided by Nursing Education.
  • Internal candidates with less than 2 years of Pediatric and Med/Surg RN clinical experience must be approved by their current nurse leader and the site Chief Nursing Officer.
  • These candidates are to remain a unit-based PRN employee until they reach 2 years of nursing experience.
