About The Position

9N Pediatric Acute Care Medical is a 24-bed unit providing evidence-based, acute care for pediatric patients and their families from birth to young adulthood. Services that admit to DCH PACM include and are not limited to: General Pediatrics, Kaiser Pediatrics, Adolescent Health, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, and General Surgery overflow. The PACM nurses partner in care with clinicians, dieticians, OT/PT services, pain services, social work, case managers, child life, schoolteachers, and pharmacists to provide children with the best possible individualized care. The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The Clinical RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transferor [O’Rourke Model of the Professional Role™]. Professional accountability enriches the Clinical RN’s engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork. Requirements

  • BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
  • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
  • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire.
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License.
  • BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years inpatient pediatric RN experience
  • Pediatric psychiatric experience preferred
  • CPN certification or other applicable pediatric specialty certification
  • Self-reflective, self-directed learner who achieves progressive growth
  • Identify gaps in knowledge and initiate seeking resources to identify and manage risks and practice safely with a wide variety of patient populations
  • Able to advance plan of care
