About The Position

The Cardiac Medical Progressive Care department (2A) is a 30-private bed unit providing 24/7 care. The unit focuses on cardiac patients including those with Congestive Heart Failure, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Arrhythmias, pre and post cardiac catheterization (with and without intervention), rule out myocardial infarction, syncope, and pacemaker placement. A secondary focus is on respiratory problems such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP. Rooms are remotely monitored by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD).

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Cardiac PCU experience
• Comfortable with 1:5 ratios (or 1:4 with drips/bipap)
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• EPIC experience
• Aware of Pass Fail EKG exam requirement
• Aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
• Flexible with scheduling

Nice To Haves

• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• NIH preferred
• Use of Rapid Response Teams preferred

• Interpretation and Management of dysrhythmias
• Telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Pre/Post Cardiac Cath care
• Peripheral Line Care and Management
• PICC line management
• Manage Cardiac drips (titration)
• Manage Vasoactive drips (titration)
• Procedural Sedation Administration
• Chest tubes (Emerson, Pleur-evac)
• External CPAP BIPAP management
• Tracheostomy Management
