About The Position

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. As we continue to expand our services & locations, our community has grown far beyond Paris. The RN will participate in the care of patients undergoing pain management procedures. This may include sedation of the patients during the procedure or admission and discharge duties. This nurse may also have other duties as assigned in the Pain Management Clinic setting.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an associate degree, baccalaureate degree, or diploma school of nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Illinois.
  • BLS and ACLS Required

Responsibilities

  • Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
  • Performs advanced nursing activities, which can include assisting with procedures using conscious sedation, placement of IV's.
  • Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
  • Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
  • Participates in initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
  • Assists Clinic Manager and Pain Management provider in the development of departmental standing protocols and orders.
  • Assess patients in procedural area, both pre and post procedure, review medication, allergies, medical history, and obtain vital signs
  • Initiate IV therapy
  • Triage phone calls, complete prior authorizations, injection screening, and MRI screenings
  • Provide education to patients in the office and post-injection area
  • Order, stock, and maintain supplies for department
  • Assists Injectionists with procedures (epidural, nerve block, joint injection, radiofrequency nerve ablation, etc)
