About The Position

The RN works in Blodgett Hospital’s 36-bed post-anesthesia care unit, one of the largest in the country. Nurses flex between the PACU and Surgery Center, which are on the same floor, depending on patient volumes.

Under the ANA scope of practice and the direction of the Nurse Leader, the RN uses the nursing process to provide professional, quality nursing care. The role incorporates patient- and family-centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN partners with patients and families, uses their input and goals in care planning, develops teaching strategies, and documents education and learning in the health record. The position is part-time, with 20 scheduled hours per week, a day shift from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., variable days, and on-call weekends.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required within five years.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS), required within 90 days.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), required within six months.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of RN experience in the emergency department, intensive care unit, or progressive care.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge.
• Deliver quality patient care according to Corewell Health policies and procedures under the direction of the Nurse Leader.
• Incorporate patient- and family-centered care principles and recognize the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on outcomes.
• Partner with patients and families and use their input and goals in care planning.
• Develop patient and family teaching strategies and document education and learning in the health record.
• Flex between the PACU and Surgery Center according to patient volumes.
