About The Position

This role involves providing post-operative care in an ambulatory surgery center. The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for patient assessments, monitoring for potential complications, and implementing appropriate safety and infection control measures. The position requires a strong understanding of hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation, as well as a commitment to maintaining and improving clinical expertise through continuing education. The RN will also participate in quality review audits, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and foster a positive and professional environment. Flexibility in scheduling and job assignments is necessary to meet patient needs. The role emphasizes patient advocacy, privacy protection, and effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues, adhering to the MACC's CARES principles: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and service.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and ACLS
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process utilizing standards set forth for Nursing Practice by the ANA and ASPAN
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Must read, write and communicate in English.
  • Basic Life Support and ACLS Certification required.
  • Regular, punctual and dependable attendance

  • Critical Care experience preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory, compliance, and accreditation standards and requirements

Responsibilities

  • Understand all aspects of post-operative care, to include assessments and potential complications.
  • Take appropriate safety and infection control measures at all times.
  • Maintain and evaluate own clinical expertise and clinical practice, demonstrating the importance of continuing education.
  • Conduct quality review audits as assigned by manager or designee.
  • Maintain flexibility with scheduling and job assignments in order to cover patient needs.
  • Foster a positive and professional ambulatory surgery center environment by interacting with all persons in a considerate, helpful and courteous manner and by participating as a team member.
  • Participate in committees, work groups, and meetings as deemed necessary.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and take part in shared leadership.
  • Organize, modify, evaluate, document, and maintain the plan of care for PACU patients based on total assessment and the age of the patients.
  • Participate and cooperate in the unit-based Quality Improvement processes.
  • Practice, develop and endorse customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Serve as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
  • Evaluate and document patient’s response; monitor and recognize changes in physiological and psychosocial status; take appropriate action based on clinical condition, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology of patient.
  • Follow established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
  • Attend in-service presentations and complete all mandatory education requirements.
  • Actively seek ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
  • Provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects MACC’s commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service.
