Requirements

Associate’s degree or graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
NJ or PA license based on primary state office location or multi-state compact license required.
Must have applied for second out of state RN license (NJ or PA) within three months from date of hire.
One year experience in an acute, urgent care or outpatient setting.
AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider

Responsibilities

Triages and assesses patients, determining clinical priority by evaluating their condition, medical history, and current status through screening, interviews, medical record review, and physician notes.
Performs and documents parts of the physical assessment, including chief complaint and vital signs.
Obtains and records patient medical history as needed.
Discusses and reviews patient prognosis with medical staff.
Reviews and coordinates patient medical phone calls, assesses patient status, and schedules treatment according to established protocol.
Reviews medication refill requests, laboratory, and other test results daily, prioritizing them for LIPs according to established protocol.
Performs nursing care and treatment modalities appropriate for individual patients.
Assists LIP with procedures, performs EKGs, removes sutures, cleans wounds, applies dressings, obtains specimens and cultures, and labels patients and specimens according to CH policy.
References policies and procedures to ensure Capital Health best practices are followed.
Administers medications accurately and safely.
Documents patient records according to established protocol.
Performs and demonstrates technical skills specific to the assigned ambulatory setting.
Calls in prescriptions to pharmacies under the direction of the LIP.
Completes competency checklist with preceptors.
Recognizes important changes in patient condition and reacts appropriately in the ambulatory setting.
Acknowledges and includes the patient's family during communication with the patient, as appropriate and designated by the patient.
Supports principles from Capital Health core mission (quality care, compassion, dignity, and comprehensive continuum of care).
Seeks interpretation or understanding of the illness, pain, fear, anxiety, or other stressful emotions.
Prepares and maintains thorough, clear, and concise documentation in patient charts.
Documents nursing actions, type and effect of treatments, patient responses, and other required information.
Performs Quality Assurance (QA) activities as defined by the ambulatory setting.
Documents quality control for waived testing and sterilization of instruments as required by established policies and procedures.
Oversees other quality and regulatory initiatives documentation and takes appropriate action to remedy any discrepancies.
Demonstrates a willingness to adapt to changing department demands.
Demonstrates willingness to assist co-workers during periods of heightened patient care activity.
Performs other duties as assigned and may be assigned to other Capital Health Medical Group Practices as needed.
