About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Orthopedic Trauma and Urology within a Medical Surgical unit. The nurse will be responsible for organizing and providing patient care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. This position offers the opportunity to be a team leader, delegating tasks to other nursing personnel. The role contributes to the mission and goals of the facility and Essentia Health, serving the community. The nurse will also ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. This is a fast-paced unit providing a great opportunity to learn well-rounded nursing skills. Essentia Health is the only Level 1 trauma center north of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and this team is known for excellent communication, collaboration, and a welcoming environment.

Requirements

BSN or ADN degree from an accredited school or college of nursing
Current nursing licensure in Minnesota
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from date of hire.

Responsibilities

Organize and provide care to patients through the process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Act as a team leader and delegate aspects of care to other nursing personnel based upon their licensure, preparation, and job descriptions.
Meet the requirements of the Joint Commission as applicable and/or other federal, state, and local regulatory or accrediting agencies.
Care for orthopedic patients ranging from those with a single broken bone to poly traumas with multiple injuries.
Treat extremity vascular patients with wounds and progressing to interventions such as amputations.
Care for Urology patients with a wide spectrum of issues such as hydronephrosis from kidney stones to patients who have had their bladder or kidney removed.
