About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Ortho Trauma and Urology within the Medical Surgical unit at St. Marys Medical Center. The RN will be responsible for organizing and providing patient care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. This position offers the opportunity to be a team leader, delegating care based on licensure and job descriptions, and contributing to the mission and goals of the facility and Essentia Health. The role requires meeting the requirements of the Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies. It is a fast-paced unit providing an opportunity to learn well-rounded nursing skills. Essentia Health is the only Level 1 trauma center north of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and this team is known for excellent communication, collaboration, and a welcoming environment.

Requirements

BSN or ADN degree from an accredited school or college of nursing
Current nursing licensure in Minnesota
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from date of hire.

Responsibilities

Organizing and providing care to patients through the process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Acting as a team leader and delegating aspects of care to other nursing personnel based upon their licensure, preparation, and job descriptions.
Meeting the requirements of the Joint Commission as applicable and/or other federal, state, and local regulatory or accrediting agencies.
Caring for orthopedic patients ranging from those with a single broken bone to poly traumas with multiple injuries.
Treating extremity vascular patients with wounds and progressing to interventions such as amputations.
Caring for Urology patients with a wide spectrum of issues such as hydronephrosis from kidney stones to patients who have had their bladder or kidney removed.
