About The Position

The Blodgett Hospital Operating Room is a Level 3 trauma center with 15 operating rooms within the Magnet Designated Corewell Health System. It is recognized as a center of excellence for bariatrics and total joints, with approximately 40% of cases being total joints and elective spine, and the remaining 60% comprising General, Colon/Rectal, Urology, Bariatric, Plastic, and ENT surgeries. The OR features a high-tech environment equipped with 3 Davinci robots, a Mako robot, Mazor, and Stealth technology. It operates as a team environment where Nurses, Surgical Technologists, and Surgery Support Staff collaborate to provide patient care and support surgeons and anesthesia providers. The Blodgett OR team also serves as the patient advocate while the patient is under anesthesia, requiring precise, critical thinking, often within short time frames, while prioritizing cost-effective quality care and patient safety. Blodgett Hospital itself is situated on a quiet, beautifully maintained property with mature trees and healing gardens. Since 1846, it has been known for providing high-quality, compassionate, and personalized medical care as both a community and teaching hospital. It offers patient-focused inpatient care in 248 private patient rooms and outpatient services for medical, surgical, and specialty care, consistently achieving high rates of patient satisfaction. The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role, operating under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care. This includes incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and manage patient discharge. The RN is responsible for providing quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures, and understanding the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The role involves partnering with patients and their families, integrating their input and goals into the care plan, and developing effective teaching strategies for them, with appropriate documentation in the health record.

Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing Required
  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ month of RN experience preferred
  • Surgical tech or Anesthesia Tech experience preferred
