About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) OR Supervisor to join a high-volume Operating Room team in Rockford, Illinois. The role calls for strong perioperative nursing experience, demonstrated charge nurse leadership skills, and the ability to deliver safe, high-quality patient care across multiple surgical specialties. The position offers work in a dynamic surgical environment with a wide variety of procedures and a collaborative multidisciplinary team. The department has 15 operating rooms and handles approximately 25–45 surgical cases per day. Specialties include general surgery, gynecology, urology, plastic surgery, robotic surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, spine surgery, ear, nose, and throat (EENT), and cardiothoracic surgery.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Illinois State Board of Nursing.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of progressively responsible Operating Room nursing experience.
- Previous charge nurse experience.
- Strong clinical judgment, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate high-quality nursing care throughout the surgical process.
- Assist with daily operating room activities, staffing coordination, and workflow management.
- Support surgical teams in maintaining patient safety and positive clinical outcomes.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor compliance with infection prevention protocols and established safety standards.
- Demonstrate leadership and provide guidance to nursing staff as needed.
- Help prioritize surgical cases and address operational challenges.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow established clinical policies.
- Promote effective communication and teamwork within the perioperative department.
