About The Position

This is a full-time day position (7 AM - 7 PM) on the Memory Care Unit. The position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience and involves a two-week rotating schedule: Monday/Tuesday/Friday/Saturday and Sunday/Wednesday/Thursday. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing services in accordance with physicians’ orders or plan of care, determining nursing problems, making plans to solve them, initiating the plan or assigning others, and evaluating its effectiveness. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs direct resident/patient care under the supervision of an RN, including nursing assessments, following the plan of care, providing nursing services, and evaluating patient response to treatment. Both roles are supportive of the Village mission and values.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience
  • Must be a Registered Nurse by the Missouri or Kansas State Board of Nursing (for RN position).
  • Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Missouri State Board of Nursing (for LPN position).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain prior to direct patient contact
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 12 training and in-service hours annually.
  • Basic level knowledge of Microsoft operating system and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities at the same time.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, handbooks and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write simple sentences, paragraphs and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively and timely provides for the comfort and well-being of patients by assessing conditions, processing physicians’ orders, providing treatments and administering prescribed drugs.
  • Timely and effectively coordinates nursing care for patients and educates the patients/residents and family about the care.
  • Timely delegates appropriate aspects of nursing care to staff which includes evaluating, monitoring and assuring delivery of care.
  • Accurately and timely documents patients/residents progress toward goals and other observations.
  • Reports patients/residents changes, needs and/or requirements to the appropriate staff.
  • Provides direct resident/patient care based on a specific plan and departmental services. This may include dispensing medication, checking vitals, changing wounds, personal care, etc.
  • Timely and accurately reports resident/patient changes, needs and/or requirements to the Registered Nurse and/or other managing staff.
  • Accurately and timely completes required documentation of nursing care to meet all state and Village requirements.
  • May delegate appropriate tasks to care givers and follows up on assignments.
  • May perform homemaking and other environmental services when necessary for services provided through the department.
