The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This role involves demonstrating knowledge of nursing principles, practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise, and utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards. The LPN will perform testing to evaluate resident status, recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations. Key responsibilities include ensuring resident health, comfort, and safety, contributing to resident assessments, administering medications and treatments, providing technical support, and documenting resident interactions and outcomes. The position requires strong skills in establishing effective working relationships, collaborating within an interdisciplinary team, and communicating clearly while maintaining confidentiality. The LPN will also counsel residents and families on prevention and treatment plans, and develop self-care programs based on resident education principles. Other related duties as assigned.
