About The Position

This is a Full Time position, 40 hours per week, with working hours from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The role involves the pre-operative physical assessment of the surgical patient, including vital signs, head-to-toe assessment, auscultation of lungs, heart sounds, abdominal, circulation, and peripheral I.V. starts. The position requires reviewing pre-op history, completing an assessment flow chart, and physically transporting patients via wheelchair or cart to the surgical holding area. Requirements

• Registered Nurse with a strong background in peri-operative surgical services.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures offered at GAHHS.
• Knowledge of anesthesia, medications and side effects.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• ACLS/PALS certification.
• Excellent physical assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Review of patient history and pre-operative chart.
• Completion of patient physical assessment.
• Completion of intra departmental transfer sheet and assessment flow chart.
• Communication with O.R. staff regarding patient transfer.
• Conducts verbal or written hand off communication with O.R. staff.
