Banner University Medical Center - South Campus Behavioral Health Units house the only Level 1 Academic Medical Center in Tucson meeting the needs of the SMI population. The Behavioral Health Pavilion is also the largest inpatient psychiatric service in Southern Arizona. Our team provides patients with a safe, supportive environment that fosters healing and facilitates a return to the highest possible level of independence. Other services include; crisis stabilization, psychiatric assessments, 24-hours psychiatric & nursing care, expressive arts therapy, group therapy, family support therapy, medication management, and a separate behavioral health unit within the Emergency Department. You can become an integral member of our patient's team, along with psychiatric doctors, NPs, pharmacists, Registered Nurses, and security officers. East Unit: This unit works with our highest acuity level of involuntary behavioral health patients. They do have 24/7 security on the unit as well. West Unit: This unit is a hybrid of geriatric psych patients requiring full medical care along with voluntary and involuntary patients with severe behavioral health needs. Geri Psych Unit: This unit will assist with our geriatric patient population who often have high acuity medical needs on top of their behavioral health needs. & Banner University Medical Center - South Emergency Department- ED: This ED Unit is separate from behavioral health and has 55 beds and is a Level 3 Trauma Unit. As a Banner University Medical Center - South Campus Behavioral Health & Emergency Department (ROSS) - RN Operations Support Specialist you will cover Behavioral Health Units and the ED and work to do onboarding and scheduling for our new team members, alongside our leadership team. A (ROSS) RN Operations Support Specialist supports nurse leadership by managing clinical education, onboarding new hires, and improving workflow efficiency. They function as a liaison between clinical disciplines, ensuring compliance with standards, conducting audits, and providing hands-on support for admissions, discharges, and staff training. Banner - University Medical Center South is a comprehensive academic medical center that includes an Emergency department, a state-designated trauma center and a Behavioral Health Pavilion. We are an Arizona Department of Health Services-accredited Cardiac Receiving Center and a Nurses Improving Care for Health system Elders-designated senior-friendly hospital. The hospital is staffed by physicians who are full-time faculty of the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson and is managed by Banner Health under an operating agreement with Pima County. Our specialty services include inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, treatment and education for diabetes, innovative geriatrics care and comprehensive orthopedics. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development and effective internal clinical communications. This role performs under the guidance and direction of the chief nursing officer or designee and serves as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating and problem solving. This position proactively supports the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems and assists in resolution of systems issues and enforces facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care. This position coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety and nursing standards and is a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department; collaborates with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses (this includes supporting programs and communication within the facility); develops and coordinates system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways and may lead and implement facility clinical initiatives. This position contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care; and actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such activities may include participating in professional organizations.
