Indian River Hospital’s 5N Oncology Unit is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct nursing care. As an RN in this unit, you’ll quickly enhance your skillset caring for a variety of patients’ needs through monitoring patients’ health, assessing patients’ pain levels, administering medication and treatments and maintaining up-to-date patient records. The 5N Oncology Unit specializes in advanced treatments for various cancer diagnoses. As an RN, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with oncology patients, their families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience
  • Completion of an ONS Chemo/Bio Course within one year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Oncology experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
  • Caring for a variety of patients’ needs through monitoring patients’ health, assessing patients’ pain levels, administering medication and treatments and maintaining up-to-date patient records.
