RN - Oncology Infusion
About The Position
Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital’s Cancer Center provides patients with clinical trials, cancer research, treatment, and support programs. The RN on the Oncology Infusion team delivers care to patients during their visits, interacts with patients and families, and provides healthcare education as needed. The role calls for compassion for oncology patients and knowledge of chemotherapy plans. It offers a potential steppingstone to a Team Lead role and the opportunity to pursue ONS and Oncology certification. This PRN position works varying days, with schedules of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or 7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. The work is based at Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- One year of current acute care RN experience; licensed military RN experience will be considered.
- Complete the ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of hire if employed on units where chemotherapy is administered.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Excellent IV skills.
- Knowledge of chemotherapy.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Educate patients and their families.
