RN Oncology Infusion (Per Diem)
About The Position
The Registered Nurse works in outpatient Infusion Centers, providing holistic, quality nursing care to patients, families, and others within the Infusion Center population. The RN provides patient assessment, symptom management, and education; safely administers chemotherapy, biotherapy, infusions, injections, and transfusions; and coordinates care with a multidisciplinary team across treatment and follow-up. The role also includes scheduling infusion visits with provider offices, triaging patient needs and toxicities, managing an outpatient caseload of patients receiving infusion and oral therapies, and participating in clinical support programs and ongoing professional development focused on safety and patient experience.
Requirements
- Current Connecticut RN license.
- Current OCN Chemotherapy/Biotherapy card, or obtain it within the first month of hire.
Nice To Haves
- BSN strongly preferred.
- Two years of previous oncology nursing experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and provide symptom management and education to patients and families.
- Safely administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, infusions, injections, and transfusions.
- Work with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate continuity of care through treatment and follow-up.
- Collaborate with provider offices to schedule infusion visits.
- Triage patients using pathways and collaborate with physicians regarding toxicities, symptom management, and referrals within the RN scope of practice.
- Manage an outpatient caseload of patients receiving infusion and oral therapies.
- Manage complex workloads to provide safe, high-quality care.
- Communicate effectively through various methods and with various audiences to achieve desired outcomes.
- Participate in continuous professional development and safety behaviors, with a focus on patient experience.
- Participate in implementing clinical support programs to ensure optimal care throughout the health-care continuum.
