About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in outpatient Infusion Centers, providing holistic, quality nursing care to patients and families. The role supports patients receiving a variety of infusion and oral therapies and promotes continuity of care through treatment and follow-up. The nurse works with a multidisciplinary team and contributes to patient education, symptom management, safe treatment administration, and ongoing clinical support.

Requirements

Current Connecticut RN license.
Current OCN Chemotherapy/Biotherapy card, or obtain one within the first month of hire.

Nice To Haves

BSN strongly preferred.
Two years of previous oncology nursing experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform patient assessments and provide symptom management and education to patients and families.
Safely administer chemotherapy and biotherapy, infusions, injections, and transfusions.
Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout treatment and follow-up.
Collaborate with provider offices to schedule infusion visits.
Triage patients using established pathways and collaborate with physicians regarding toxicities, symptom management, and referrals within the RN scope of practice.
Manage a caseload of outpatients receiving various infusion and oral therapies.
Manage complex workloads to provide safe, high-quality care.
Communicate effectively through various methods and with varied audiences to achieve desired outcomes.
Engage in continuous professional development and safety behaviors, with a focus on patient experience.
Participate in implementing clinical support programs to promote optimal care across the health-care continuum.
