About The Position

QuadMed is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse for its 24/7 Occupational Health Center. This role provides as-needed support, specifically with afternoon coverage from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The Occ Health Registered Nurse will offer general nursing care and leadership within Occupational Health Services, collaborating with physicians and a multidisciplinary team. The position focuses on nursing functions such as documenting vital signs and chief complaints, administering medications and injections, performing phlebotomy, patient triage, authorizing medication refills, and patient education, with an emphasis on wellness and prevention.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working in a primary care setting or ambulatory setting.
  • Familiarity with an electronic medical records system.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Outpatient experience strongly preferred.
  • Occupational Health experience preferred.
  • Current and valid license in the state of the position or compact state license.
  • Current CPR (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • ACLS a plus.
  • Strong nursing and interpersonal skills, especially in working with diverse populations.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities and work independently.
  • Knowledge of patient care procedures, medical protocols, and testing procedures necessary to support an Occupational Health center.
  • Ability to manage the day-to-day operations of the clinic with the guidance of the Clinic Supervisor.
  • Skilled in assessment, evaluation, nursing diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong skills in utilizing technology.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties in accordance with the Nursing Code of Ethics and other guiding principles of nursing.
  • Assesses, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care based on the patient’s age-related physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs, adhering to established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides case management by acting as a patient advocate, resource, and contact person for patients and families.
  • Offers basic wellness and prevention education to patients and families, focusing on age-appropriate self-care and identified learning needs.
  • Collects assessment data, documenting subjective data (chief complaint and allergies) and objective data (vital signs/weight/etc.). Reviews basic health history, focusing on environmental, self-care, and health and wellness center discharge planning.
  • Administers medications/immunizations skillfully and correctly; performs therapeutic treatments and other health screenings as required by the provider.
  • Performs other duties including recording vital signs, audiograms, vision testing, urine collection, blood collection, spirometry, respirator fit testing, injections, basic first aid, urine drug testing, and breath alcohol testing.
  • Performs lab/diagnostic tests, including preparing specimens, testing, and recording results as ordered by the provider. Reports all critical lab values immediately.
  • Anticipates and prepares examination rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Assists the provider with examinations and procedures as requested.
  • Utilizes universal precautions in obtaining specimens (venipuncture, cultures, etc.) and in delivering patient care. Maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines.
  • Completes all documentation accurately, timely, and efficiently for regulatory compliance. Demonstrates proficiency in Electronic Medical Record documentation.
  • Participates in quality improvement, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by health center requirements.
