Our unit is a labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum unit with 7 private rooms, 3 triage beds, a whirlpool, and a C-section suite. We average 300 deliveries and over 500 triages per year. Our nurses are certified in fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, and infant STABLE. We have a strong midwife program and are equipped to handle emergencies and most high-risk deliveries. We have 24-hour newborn coverage by nurse practitioners from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and access to certified lactation consults through the Nest Collaborative. Being part of a larger healthcare system allows us access to resources and best practices. We are a small, family-oriented team on a high reliability journey, focusing on safe patient outcomes and excellent patient experience. We have an active shared governance council where nurses and leaders share decision-making and promote best practices. We have been recognized for excellence in maternity care by the Economic Alliance for Michigan and U.S. News & World Report. Pennock Hospital brings the resources of Corewell Health to your local hospital with a caring, compassionate approach, invested in our community. The scope of work involves delivering nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. This includes demonstrating competency through the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and upholding the standards of professional performance (ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) to achieve optimal outcomes.
