About The Position

Finger Lakes Health’s New Graduate RN Residency Program at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital provides the education, hands-on experience, mentorship, and support you need to transition confidently from nursing school into professional nursing practice. As a Critical Access Hospital, Soldiers & Sailors offers new graduate nurses the opportunity to develop a broad clinical skill set while caring for patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical needs. Join our February 2027 Residency Cohort and build your nursing career close to the community you serve! The Registered Nurse utilizes nursing theory, clinical expertise, technical skills, and effective communication to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops and implements individualized plans of care, provides direct patient care, evaluates patient outcomes, and collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team throughout the patient's hospitalization. Working in a Critical Access Hospital provides new graduate nurses with an opportunity to develop a diverse clinical foundation. RNs care for patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions and gain experience with patients across different age groups and levels of acuity. Our residency program is designed to help new graduate nurses build confidence, strengthen clinical judgment, and develop the skills necessary to provide safe and effective patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Registered Professional Nursing
  • Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required
  • RN license must be active at least two weeks prior to the residency start date
  • New graduate RNs are encouraged to apply
  • Strong interest in medical-surgical nursing

  • BSN preferred
  • Prior LPN experience may be considered when determining starting rate
